A:Environmental pollution is a fact of life in cities, towns and villages, but there is no evidence that pregnancies in deserts, clear mountains, etc. away from pollution lead to any advantage. The main pollutants that harm babies are alcohol, cigarettes and certain drugs. The risk of other pollutants is individual and depends on proximity and factors such as the time exposed. Each case is individual, but pollution in general, by definition, is not healthy at any time, perhaps more so to some small degree when immunity may be lower as a result of pregnancy.
