What causes hiccups in HIV infected people?

Q: I am a 51 years old HIV patient. Since the last two weeks, I am getting hiccups. What causes hiccups in HIV/AIDS patients?

A:Hiccups can be caused by a variety of reasons. There is no special association of hiccups with HIV infection. Please do not forget that persons who are HIV infected are also, like everybody else, susceptible to the common problems affecting the general population. Hiccups most often are self-limiting; in other words people have hiccups and most often the hiccups end by themselves. Please consult your usual doctor if hiccups persist.
