What are the side effects of Finax?

Q: I am a 27 years old man and have started the treatment for hair loss two weeks back. The doctor prescribed me Finax. What are the side effects of Finax?

A:Finax is the brand name; the name of the medicine is finasteride. It is used in the treatment of enlargement of prostate and androgenetic alopecia (a specific type of male pattern hair loss). There are many causes of hair loss and unless a firm and correct diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia is made, the drug has no role. Besides the drug may need to be taken for months and years and may or may not increase the hair growth. Its side effects may include: impotence, loss of libido (sexual desire) and decreased volume of semen. There is no way to decrease the side effects.
