Surgery for enlarged adenoids?

Q: My daughter aged 4 years is suffering from allergic asthma, for last 6 months she also is suffering from enlarged adenoids. Sometimes she snores during sleep. Our child specialist advised us to remove adenoids by surgery. Is there any other treatment besides surgery? Is surgery the complete solution to get rid of the above suffering including allergic asthma?

A:In enlarged adenoids, the child suffers from nose blockage, mouth breathing and snoring. After surgery there is relief from all these symptoms. The dose for the medication for asthma may decrease but resolution can be expected once the child grows to the age of 12-13 years as there is increase in the size of the airway by that age.
