Skin - fungal infection

Q: I have a skin related problem. I am getting very minute white marks on my arms and shoulders. These are very minute and are located at the root of body hair. It sometimes itches. I am applying Candid TV lotion before bath for 1/2 hour twice a week. Kindly let me know if this is right or suggest me an alternative medicine.

A:You could be having TV infection. It can be proven (before starting antifungal treatment) by demonstrating fungal elements in KOH examination ofthe skin scrapes. A single dose of Fluconazole 400 mg is curative in most cases. But your doctor must examine and decide before you take it. The usual method of use of topical preparations which contain sodium selenite is toapply every day.
