Should we shut down the office if a colleague has tested positive for H1N1 flu?

Q: One of our colleagues has tested positive for swine flue. He is having fever for the last 10 days. He was coming to office till two days back. In view of this, should we close the office till it is sanitised? What are the precautions that need to be taken?

A:I do not think that closing the office will help in any way. You and all the office staff should be informed that at the first sign of a 'flu type illness (fever, body ache, cold/cough/respiratory symptoms in them or their family/close contacts) they should report to the doctor with the information about their illness and the fact that one of the colleagues has tested positive for H1N1.
