A:First of all I suggest you to consult a good ENT specialist and he must be able to differentiate between allergic pharyngotonsillitis and infective one. If you have an infective tonsillitis (positive throat swab for streptococcal bacteria, raised ASLO titre in blood, presence of lymph nodes in the neck, more than 5-6 attacks of sore throat plus fever in one year), tonsillectomy will definitely help. In the other case, you may have regular pharyngitis and dry cough even after tonsillectomy. Recovery from your problems cannot be guaranteed since you are an adult.
