Patches of hair loss

Q: My husband has patches of hair loss on his head and beard. It has been about 2 months since the first one was noticed but then there are more and more patches forming. I would like to have more information regarding this and if these patches can be treated?

A:It seems your husband is suffering from a disease called Alopecia areata or maybe fungus. If there is any scaling along with the hair loss the hair loss can be totally reversed in about a months time-with therapy usually local or somtimes oral or injection of steroids. But if you have to resort to steroid therapy, it would be wiser under the guidance of a medical skin specialist
