Q: My left leg is polio affected & it is 1.5 inches short & thin then right leg, so is there any procedure to make it little bit similar to right leg. Please give me proper details.

A:There are procedures to lengthen your short leg/ if the limb length discrepancy is around 2.5 cm, only a shoe lift should suffice. Only if you have a significant discrepancy, should limb lengthening be considered. it is better to leave the paralysed leg slightly shorter for better foot clearance during walking. it depends on the functional capability of your leg, and the position of the foot - to understand whether limb lengthening would benefit you. But in reply to your question - limb can be lengthened surgically.you may need to consult an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.
