Is the plug and mesh method of surgery for hernia safe?
Q: Please let me know about the operation of inguinal hernia by pre-shaped plug and mesh method. Please also let me know whether the above mentioned operation method is particularly safe and with a minimum stay in the hospital and in comparison is considered to be better than other alternatives?
A:The surgical treatment of inguinal hernia using a plug/mesh is very effective and extremely safe. Stay in hospital is usually one day. Looking at your history any type of anaesthesia: general, spinal, or local, should be safe. I would personally recommend local anaesthesia, but you should talk to your anaesthetist.
