Is my son at risk of rabies?
Q: My son ate a lollipop that was licked by my neighbours’ dog. I am scared he could get rabies. I don't know whether or not the dog was vaccinated against rabies. What should I do?
A:No need to worry. Rabies viruses enter the body via blood stream when a rabid dog bites a person. Unless the dog is rabid and the child had bleeding ulcers in the oral cavity, the viruses will not be a danger. In any case since the dog is pet, it can hardly be rabid.
