Is it possible to test toys for lead content?
Q: Is there any kit with which I can identify if paint, toys, or water have lead content? I would like to prevent my son from getting exposed to lead. He's 8 months old and chews/licks everything he lays his hands own. Are branded toys like funskool, fisher price safer for babies than the unbranded ones? Would a blood test be necessary?
A:There is no commercially available kit which can estimate the lead content. It can only be tested in industrial laboratories like Shri Ram Laboratory for industrial testing. It is difficult to say which toys whether branded or not have what content of lead unless they are specifically tested.
