Q: I am a 23-year-old girl. Me and my boyfriend have never had sex. But we do indulge in a lot of foreplay. I get unbearable cramps in my stomach after foreplay, which last for a few hours. My periods have just started, though they are irregular. I take medication to regulate them. Is my problem normal or is there something to worry about?

A:It is unusual to have cramps in your abdomen, so regularly after foreplay. While some contractions of the uterus (womb) - leading to mild pain - are normal due to sexual stimulation and consequent increase in levels of sex hormones, this does not explain lasting of these symptoms for so many hours. Since you also have irregular periods, we would suggest you get yourself examined by a gynaecologist for an accurate diagnosis of your problem.
