Is it normal for a 7-year-old to have pubic hair?
Q: My daughter, 7 years old, has hair in her vaginal area. What is the reason? Usually girls get this only at the time of puberty. Please explain.
A:There should be no hair in the pubic area at this age (<8 years). It is due to early activation of adrenal glands. This should not be ignored and your daughter should be evaluated by a paediatric endocrinologist.
