Is it necessary to get circumcision done for recurrent fungal infection?

Q: I am 26 years old male suffering from recurrent penile fungal infections and premature ejaculation. I had consulted a doctor and was told to get a circumcision done. May I know what are the advantage and disadvantage of circumcision? I read a lot about circumcision on Internet and came to know about that it decreases the sensitivity and size of penis. Please help.

A:The cause of the repeated fungal infection has to be diagnosed. Is it from an infected partner? Are you diabetic or immunodeficient? Circumcision will not eliminate the cause of the infection, but it will lower your susceptibility and the severity of manifestation. The merits and demerits of circumcision are not relevant if circumcision is being performed for disease. These become important only if it is being voluntarily sought. Circumcision does not reduce penile sensitivity, but can reduce hypersensitivity, and thus maybe help in premature ejaculation.
