Is infantile sexuality normal?
Q: I was baby-sitting my cousin's son and daughter who are 7 years and 6 years old with my daughter who is 4 years old. I caught my cousin's son with his pants down lying on his sister and they were kissing. My daughter was sitting there and watching them. Is this normal behaviour? Should my cousin keep her kids separate and not let them be alone?
A:Children imitate what they see. It is not unusual for this kind of a thing to happen. This is an example of infantile sexuality. Generally, nothing so explicit happens, but children are curious about their private parts. However, you should tell your friend what you saw and let her take the decisions. The children should be given play activities that occupy them fully, so that this kind of imitation of adult behaviour is not engaged in.
