Is asymptomatic hepatitis B curable?
Q: Can asymptomatic hepatitis B be cured? How can I get rid of it from my system?
A:Hepatitis B infection can affect our body in several ways. It can be asymptomatic or can present with symptoms. The asymptomatic infection in usually diagnosed by the presence of hepatitis B marker such as HBsAg in our blood on routine screening. If the virus is inactive (non-replicative) and the LFT and ultrasound of liver are normal, then no treatment is needed. The patient needs to be on regular follow-up with annual blood test to check whether the virus is getting into active phase or not. It is generally difficult to make the HBsAg negative with any type of medication in the asymptomatic phase.
