How to treat hearing loss due to stapedectomy?
Q: Dear Sir, I am Kamaraj, 28 years old and I have deafness in my right ear since last 3 years. This deafness resulted from an operation done on my right ear called stapedectomy. Before that operation my hearing was normal with some sound in the ear. For reducing that sound I had undergone that operation After that operation (stapedectomy) my entire hearing ability is gone and is causing pain. Is there any possibility to get the hearing back as due to this problem I am unale to work properly.
A:After stapedectomy there is a possibility of nerve loss which cannot be corrected . However, if the piston has been dislocated the loss can be reverted by revision surgery. For determining the type of loss you need to under go audiometry.
