How to manage frequent attacks of cough and cold?

Q: I am 21 years old and I am suffering from bronchitis since the age of 9. I have had 6 to 7 severe attacks of breathing problem. Becarite Forte and Serobid had been prescribed to me then but due to presence of steroids in Becarite Forte I discontinued it, though I take Serobid till date whenever I feel the need. My problem is that I catch cough and cold very fast. I try to take care, specially during the changing weather, but the cough and cold still persist. Even right now I have cough and cold with slight temperature, which goes up to 101 degree F. This is the second time in the past 20 days that I have had this sort of attack. Though I have been given Droxyl antibiotic by my doctor, it has not helped much as I got an attack within 20 days. I like playing outdoor games and don't want to restrict myself on those grounds. I am studying away from home, in Indore and the place is quite dusty and polluted. Kindly help and guide me as to what should I do? I feel weak and frustrated due to these attacks.

A:I am sorry to learn about your respiratory problems. I am afraid it is a chronic problem and you have to live with. My advice to you would be to use steroid inhalers and broncho-dilator inhalers and you will need antibiotics if you catch an infection. Your sputum check would help your doctor to choose the right antibiotic. Regular breathing exercise will definitely help in the long run.
