How can recurrent yeast infection on penis be treated?
Q: I am a 29 years old man suffering from yeast infection on my penis for the past eight months. I have ringworm on my hips and testicles too, which irritates but it comes and goes on its own. The doctor suggested the use of Fluconazole and Candid ointment; another doctor suggested Nizoral for a week and an ointment. After using them it stops, but the problem is recurrent. Please advise.
A:If your condition persists or recurs frequently, then one has to consider the following:
- You maybe stopping the treatment before infection has been eradicated.
- The infective organism is resistant to the drug used.
- There is a reservoir of infection from which you are getting re-infected.
- There are comorbid predisposing factors.
