How can I get rid of white scales on my skin?

Q: I am a 28 years old man having fungal infection. I am having dandruff, which used to come down to my face and behind my ears if I didn't shampoo regularly. It is also causing some problem in my eyes. The dandruff I had earlier is different from the one have now. Recently, I saw scales on the other parts of my body too, like my moustache region, behind the ears and a lesion in my groin itches slightly. When wet, the lesion is barely visible but when dry, an irregular white patch and scales comes out, if scratched, it becomes sometimes reddish and I feel a greenish tinge also. The lesion has already spread to my scrotum and ventral part of the shaft of my penis. I tried Candid ointment for the lesiosn in the groin for 3 weeks twice daily. Theer was improvement but it recurs. I am using Nizral shampoo for dandruff and is under control. With these the lesions seem milder. Please advise.

A:Your problem seems to be that of psoriasis, for which topical therapy, ultraviolet light therapy and systemic therapies are available. Initially psoriasis may present just like dandruff (seborrhoeic dermatitis), but later on it goes on producing scaly or red patches elsewhere. Please consult a dermatologist for appropriate treatment.
