How can I get rid of my bed-wetting problem?
Q: I am currently 28 years old. I have been suffering from frequent bed-wetting and gastric problems since my childhood. I underwent endoscopy six years back and was diagnosed with fundal gastritis. My IVP test reports did not indicate any reason behind the bed-wetting problem. I have consulted a few urologists, and all of them have prescribed me medicines like Minirin and Amitryn. But sometimes in spite of taking this medicine the problem persists. Recently, I have also developed irregular bowel syndrome and have consulted my gastroenterologist who had advised me to undergo endoscopy and colonoscopy. My frequency of bed-wetting increased during this time, and it mostly happens when I am having indigestion or gas. Kindly advise how I can get rid of this problem.
A:I am sorry to note that your bed-wetting problem is persisting even now. It may not be possible to rule out any connection with your irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Incidentally, both the problems (IBS and bed-wetting) have a tremendous psychosomatic background and deserve to be treated with single focus. Bed-wetting is a condition in which you are unlikely to find anything through physical examinations, imaging tests or other investigations such as IVP. If your urologist has tried one medicine and has failed, he / she should try the same in different dosage, or other medicines. Even surgical option should be kept in mind. I see no reason for your disappointment and you should be fine. In the meantime, you should keep cool and practise Yoga and Meditation.
