How can I get rid of black marks on my face?
Q: I am a 21 years old girl and had a black mark near my lips. I used an orange peel pack at home at the age of 13 years due to which, a small black mark developed near my mouth (exactly in between cheeks and lips) that bothered me for a long time. So I consulted a dermatologist last month, she gave me melalite cream and celine tablet. I applied it and the mark went off but the affected area became reddish and dry. So, I applied Evion moisturiser as per the doctor’s suggestion. After some days, I bleached my face avoiding the affected area, but after 2 days, the part surrounding my mouth became black. It doesn't pain or itch. I consulted another skin doctor and he suggested Moyzen oil, Derantox and Evion tablet. Please advise.
A:You probably have post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. This should gradually become lighter on its own. However, if you irritate it again and again, then you are likely to end up with cumulative pigmentation from each episode. Under the supervision of the dermatologist, you may get benefit from application of certain creams. Use of topical steroids should be limited to the acute phase only. Not everybody will have pigmentation after an inflammation of the skin. Those who have this tendency have no choice but to avoid those things, which have a high propensity for irritation.
