Does shifting to low temperature area require me to make lifestyle changes?

Q: I am a 43 years old male suffering from hypertension. I underwent angioplasty stent placement in two arteries eight months back. Lately, I have shifted to a low temperature area. At present I am on medicines. Kindly advise me on life style changes required now.

A:The lifestyle changes are for universal application regardless of latitude or temperature. These would include care of diet, weight control, and regular exercise on most days of the week. Control of risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol usually by drugs would already be advised. In the case of low temperature areas specific attention to prevent weight gain, and regular exercise should be maintained.
