Does my brother need mild or heavy knee exercises after surgery?

Q: My brother, aged 28 years, met with an accident. His knee got damaged badly. The ACL was totally broken and the MCL damaged severely. He got operated and the doctor suggested moderate knee exercises at home. But when we took him for a second opinion to another doctor, he suggested hard exercises through physiotherapy. Which advice do we follow?

A:Firstly, I suggest, you should go as per the doctor’s advice who did the surgery. Secondly, it is always advisable to go for exercises under the supervision of a physiotherapist. Since you have mentioned there is swelling, The therapist will guide you gradually. For such surgeries, the best way is a slow supervised approach and move to a vigorous approach only as per your clinical evaluation.
