Does carbonated water cause acidity?
Q: Does excessive drinking of carbonated water (soda) cause acidity?
A:Gastric acid is stimulated by certain food items, most prominently by proteins (amino acids) and calcium. Acid production is inhibited by carbohydrates and fats. Carbonated drinks contain carbon dioxide which should have little or no effect on acid secretion.
