Does anaesthesia lead to long term forgetfulness?

Q: I am 41 years old. I underwent a surgery for removing my left ovary. My forgetfulness has increased nowadays. People say, this is the after effect of anaesthesia. Is it correct?

A:It is not correct. Immediately after the operation, effect of some of the pain killers can produce forgetfulness of the events; so one may not remember when and where was she/he shifted etc. But anaesthesia does not produce forgetfulness as a long term effect.
