Do I need to wear a belt while doing weight training?

Q: I am a 33 years old man weighs 72 Kg and my height is 172 cm. I visit the health club 4 times a week for one hour each. I do weight training for two to three days a week (30 minutes each). Do I need to wear a tight belt on my stomach while doing weight training? I have seen body builders in my health club wear tight belts on their stomachs when they do weight training. I go to the health club for my overall fitness and not for bodybuilding. I normally do weight lifting up to 36 Kg. Please advise.

A:Wearing of the belt is required if you are lifting very heavy weights and if your core muscles are not very strong. However, if you do lift heavy weights, you can also strengthen your core muscles that lie in the mid section of your body. When you do weight training, form is very important and with good form, comes using the core muscles to stabilize your movements.
