Do I have bronchitis?

Q: In my right lung, cough gets accumulated. It comes out with irritation and coughing. The problem is since 11 years. I was diagnosed with Koch's disease (TB) in right lung on the basis of bronchoscopy results and was put up on ATT for 8 months because that time low grade fever was persisting from last 3 years. But during that period all the tests including x-ray were normal. I had got done these tests 15 times and visited 3-5 doctors. Now I do not have any fever but accumulation of cough in the same lung (right). All the tests are normal. Is this bronchitis and how will it be cured?

A:It appears from your presentation that there may be a condition called Bronchiectasis of some area of right lung. It can occur due to many reasons including old treated Tuberculosis which may leave behind scaring of the lung. This area of lung cannot drain out respiratory secretions & is prone to recurrent infections. Clinical examination & an X-ray or HRCT scan of chest can confirm this. The treatment is generally postural drainage, bronchodilator inhalers, steam inhalation & if needed antibiotics.
