Children - lactose intolerance
Q: My 11 month old son is showing reducing substance in his stool test. He is on a diet of Prosoyal Nestum RIce and dal. Will it affect his growth? He has not gained any weiight in the last two months.
A:Reducing substances in stool are usually present, when there is intolerance to lactose (the sugar present in milk). Prosoyal or Nestum should not be responsible for the reducing substances in your son's stool test. You should withdraw milk and milk products from his diet and he should gain weight. However, if he still does not do so, then further investigations would be required.
