Children - diarrhoea in newborns
Q: My son is 30 days old. He discharges motion very loosely since his birth, and also we found there is some nappy rash. There is not much weight gain in the baby - since 30 days he has gained from 3.25 kg to 3.75 kg. Please let me know what we have to do to overcome this problem?
A:Frequent (upto 10-15 times) watery stools with a lot of froth are normal for breast fed babies. If you are worried, get a stool sample checked for routine and microscopic examination, to rule ou infection. For nappy rash, clean the skin with fresh flowing water, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth/towel and apply either SILODERM or RASHFREE ointment, each time. Do not worry, his weight gain is normal for the 1st month.
