Can surgery remove the eczema inflicted skin?

Q: I have eczema on legs which is now under control with the use of moistening agents. How should I remove the eczematous skin on the legs? Can I undergo dermabrasion technique for a clean skin and in which hospital this treatment is done?

A:I do not recommend that you surgically interfere with the skin which was the site of eczema, unless it has been inactive for a long time. This is because: 1. Over a period of time, the post inflammatory pigmentation will gradually fade away on its own. 2. Eczema may recur, again and again over a considerable period of time. Surgery will not correct this tendency.
