Can my father undergo polyp removal ear operation following angioplasty?
Q: My 56 years old father had angioplasty done recently. He is on total bed rest for the last month and a half. My father also has polyp in both the ears. The right ear was cleared through operation and the left one is left. Since he is unable to hear properly, can he go for operation for the left ear now?
A:It may be possible to remove the polyp under local anaesthesia, but even general anaesthesia is quite safe after angioplasty. We usually wait at least 2 weeks, but three months is clearly better. Your father will be on some anticoagulation regime, but your surgeon will bear that in mind. Do get your cardiologist to clear the procedure and anaesthesia.
