Can I take herpes vaccine?

Q: I am a 62 years old man who had genital herpes 27 years back. But after a couple of years, it hasn't recurred. I also have a history of chicken pox. Is it safe to take herpes Zosdtavax for genital herpes?

A:In an immunocompetent person, herpes zoster occurs only once in a lifetime. So, where is the question of immunization in such a person who has already had herpes zoster? If you are immuno-compromised, then one may consider immunization. However, herpes zoster has nothing to do with HSV infection.
