Can I donate my kidney if I have sarcoidosis of the lungs?
Q: I am a 61 years old male and my brother is 57 years old. Can I donate a kidney to my brother if I have sarcoidosis of the lungs?
A:Chronic active lung disease from sarcoidosis can pose increased risk of general anesthesia and surgery, and thus may need exclusion of a potential donor from donation. Also, if sarcoidosis involves the kidneys, you will need to be excluded from donation.
