Can herpes zoster in a child recur?

Q: My child developed Herpes in his ear recently. Now it is almost dried up. I am very tense as it can recur and want to know what are the remedies to avoid this? Is there any vaccine for this? Also, I want to know the medicines and precautions for this? Will my child be ok after this? Also tell me the care to be taken; he is my only child and is 5 years of age.

A:If the child has recovered from the illness, which I gather from your mail to be Herpes zoster, there is nothing to be worried about now. The chances of recurrence in later life are extremely rare.
