Are my cholesterol and triglyceride levels alright?

Q: My serum cholesterol is 308 mg% and serum triglyceride is 531 mg%. I am 36 years old and weigh 80 kg. I have a family history of diabetes and hypertension. I have been consuming alcohol for the last 10 years. I am not taking any medicines at present. I have just tested my blood and urine and the reports are OK SGPT is 42 units. I usually eat a non-vegetarian meal. Is there any problem with my health? What diet should I take and what exercise should I do?

A:You have a very high triglyceride & cholesterol level and are overweight by 7 kg. You also have a family history of diabetes and high BP and consume alcohol regularly, which causes an increase in the triglyceride level. Please reduce intake of alcohol; you can take red wine twice a week. Give up red meat, egg yolk, butter and cheese. Exercise regularly for an hour everyday and check blood lipids after 2 months of dietary regulation and exercise. If you don't take care you have a high chance of getting heart disease.
