Are hair creams harmful?

Q: Is it advisable to use hair creams like Brylcream, Clinic all clear etc and does their prolonged use harm the hair or affect the scalp? I have been using brylcream for the past 4 months and I am plagued with dandruff now. Is it due to the usage of the cream? Although I have stopped using it and I apply oil, but there seems to be no respite. Can I continue the use of creams? Please suggest measures to maintain hair.

A:Oils and creams, or even dandruff have no role to play in the growth of the hair. If any good branded product is used, it usually does not do any damage to the hair. Dandruff per se is harmful. If you have persistent dandruff, use a good medicated shampoo with Ketacenazole (available in brand names of Scalpe, Arcolane, KTC, Nizral) which will help eradicate dandruff. Use it as often as required till dandruff goes away.
