Any risk of chicken pox to a child from an affected family member?

Q: My daughter is 4 months old, and recently one of my family member has got chicken pox staying in the same house. Is there any risk for her and her mother as she is also on breast feeds and any extra precaution / vaccine to protect them from the disease?

A:Your daughter should be fairly well protected by maternal antibodies that she would have received from her mother, if your wife has had chicken pox in her childhood, then she is protected. If not, then one could consider chicken pox vaccination for her, if she has come in close contact with the patient.
