Why is my daughter feeling weak?

Q: My daughter is 11 years old. She has experienced minor tiredness twice in the past 3-6 months. She experienced headache followed by pain in the leg joint for two days 15 days back. We got her tested the results showed: ASLO titre 292, ESR 35, protein 58. But she seems to be normal. She has no other history of joint pains etc. She is not suffering from any fever either. We are confused by the report and her normal symptoms. Please guide us.

A:From the data and her symptoms I tend feel that she had a minor bacterial infection and she appears to have recovered from it. The tests were a reflection of acute infection (streptococcal) and if the tests get repeated now they should have returned to normal, especially when she is well again. If, however, your daughter feels unwell I suggest you register her temperature daily for a few days and if above normal get the bloods cultured to see if there is any evidence of infection and if so she can be offered the right antibiotics.
