Why do I have itchy nipples?

Q: For almost a year now, I have very itchy breasts. Mostly the nipples are itchy but the entire surface area too is affected. I am not large busted. I am 43 years old and haven't had a cycle in many years (the doctors don't know why). I have had Hepatitis C for 20 years. No matter what I do - put cream or anything they drive me nuts. Can you enlighten me as to what may be going on?

A:Itchy nipples can be due to eczema or underlying breast carcinoma (Paget's disease). Rarely it could be due to some other dermatological disorders. Consult a dermatologist and get your breast examined by a surgeon.
