White patch on the scalp
Q: I am 21 yrs, married and currently residing in Boston, US. Around 2 years back I suffered a patch on my scalp and my doctor (skin specialist) said that it was a scar mark on my scalp. This mark is confined to the same area of my head a little above my neck. It is white in colour and does not spread. It looks as if it is dried skin which I can remove by scratching. What should I do doctor?
A:A single scaly whitish/silvery plaque on the scalp may be psoriasis, which is a chronic and recurring disorder. Alternative treatments that can be tried include coal tar shampoos or Calcipotriene (dovonex) dipsalic.
