Q: I am a 52 years old male who is having allergy for the last couple of months. Normally, it starts from swollen lips and the spreads to other parts of the body. I also have acidity and reflux. I have already cut down on tea intake drastically (2 / 3 cups a day). Prior to this I was treated for E. coli. I also have mild diabetes and I am not on any medicine for diabetes. I take Hopace, Storvas and a blood thinner every day.

A:Urticaria is one of the conditions in which one can have swelling of the lip, off and on. Usually it is associated with wheals elsewhere over the body. It can be caused by almost anything one can think of. This condition will either subside on its own or when one identifies the cause and eliminates it. Till then one has to take minimal medication so that one is comfortable enough to lead normal life.
