Q: My daughter is 5 months old. She has blue patches all over her back, top of her nose, joints, ankles and thighs since her birth. We have not taken her to a doctor yet. What could be the reason for these spots? I had urticaria when I was expecting for which I took Avail. Could it be because of this? My husband is epileptic and takes medicines for it, could this be the cause? Please advise.

A:The blue spot over the back is Mongolian spots which are likely to disappear by 1-2 years of age. The spots over the nose and groin are also most likely hyperpigmented spots which are likely to get lighter or disappear with age.
