What is better for sugar control - insulin alone or insulin and oral pills?
Q: I am diabetic for the last 10 years. My height is 178 cm and weight is 90 kgs. For the last two months I am on Insulin Mixtard 30 Novalet. The doses are 36 units each, morning and evening. With this dose, the blood sugar fasting is 110 and PP 200. My doctor has stopped all other medicines, which I was taking for diabetes prior to insulin. My question is that in the long run, what is a better way to control blood sugar: insulin alone or insulin along with medicines? Kindly advise.
A:It does not matter how you control blood glucose: with only insulin or insulin with oral pills. The important thing is to have blood sugar as close to normal as feasible.
