What causes ringworms?
Q: I am a 43 years old male suffering from ringworms (candidiasis) for the last two years especially in the groin and buttocks. The doctor prescribed Grisovin and Candid-B ointment for five days. It was cured completely but keeps recurring every three months. I ride a lot on bike and the itching and rashes are seen now at the seating areas also. How can ringworms be treated permanently?
A:Ringworm is not caused by the fungus Candida but by dermatophytes. Usually dermatophyte infections of the skin requires around 3 weeks of treatment. If the condition recurs again and again, then there must be some predisposing factors. These need to be identified and managed.
