What are the adverse effects of multiple lipomas?

Q: I am a 24 years old male who is suffering from multiple lipomas for the last seven years. What are the adverse effects of multiple lipomas?

A:Small lipoma can be removed under local anesthesia, but the surgeon will have to give general anesthesia to remove a large lipoma. Therefore if the lipoma starts to grow big (greater than 5 cm) it is better to have it removed. Pain may occur, but is uncommon. If the lipoma causes pain, get it taken out. Cancerous change may occur, but I have never seen a case: it must be an exceptionally rare occurrence. Lipomas may cause cosmetic problems: in that case get them removed.
