My toes get swollen in winters, do I have chilblains?
Q: In winter, fingers of my feet get swollen. This is accompanied with itching and pain. It becomes difficult to even wear shoes. What could be the cause and what can be the remedy? Last year, I was advised to take Dexona tablets for the problem. But I have not found it much useful.
A:In all probability you are suffering from chilblains. The best treatment for this is preventive in nature i.e. protect your hands and feet from cold. You could be wearing light woollen socks and gloves and wear shoes as means of protection. You should also avoid contact with cold water. Dexona, a steroid is not of much value.
