Is there any treatment for thin skin of hands?
Q: My spouse is a housewife. She has a problem of thin skin. The skin of her palms is so thin that even tomato chopping causes burning sensation in the palm. The skin specialist says that there is no medicine for this but has prescribed a lotion which when applied on the palm works as a safeguard for several hours. My point is there any prolific therapy for this skin problem?
A:I seems that your wife's hands have sensitive skin. She may not tolerate any mild irritants in vegetables and fruits. Treatment at present is only protection wearing gloves, putting barrier creams like Dermashield (Camlin pharma product) and to treat any obvious dermatitis if it develops.
