Is idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) curable?

Q: My 7 years old daughter has chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) for the last one year. Is it curable?

A:There is no permanent cure for ITP. Except paediatric acute ITP is sometimes self-limiting. There are many treatment options available for ITP; the disease does achieve remission and some times it lasts for a longer duration. But relapses are also not uncommon.
